Since my arrival I realised there was a lot to understand about the unique culture of 17 P&M Regt. The Regiment was very busy with the Port Ops task which supports all trades across
the globe. In addition, the Regiment has been significantly busy preparing for Ex DEFENDER EUROPE which is one of the biggest military exercises held in Europe working alongside our US Allies.
Despite the busy period, the Regiment was still competing in all sports and to the very highest levels. Being secretary of cycling within the Regiment, my main role is to find new talent and encourage SP to try out new sports. We are fortunate to have so many talented athletes throughout several disciplines of sports within the Regiment. As a result, 17 P&M Regt has competed and received outstanding results in Nordic Skiing, Snowboarding, Fishing and runners up in Female Basketball, the results reflect the hard work these athletes put in every day.
I was fortunate to have 24 AAPTIs within the Regiment comprising experienced and highly motivated PTIs who are responsible for delivering Physical training and APTS at a high standard to over 560 SP. Overall, the Regiment is excellent at running, with the help of the APTS they are slowly integrating strength training, injury prevention while learning the importance of all components of fitness. Lastly, I had the privilege to organise 3 weeks Adventurous Training package for the Regiment which provided opportunities
for 17 P&M Regt SP to participate in challenging Adventurous Training and enable progression through the AT qualifications.
It has been a delightful year at the Unit, I am hopeful that the continuous growth of the AAPTIs in the Regiment and organise more AT. It has been a pleasure to serve in the diverse Regiment.
