PLAZA OPERA
An evening of drama
You are invited to see ‘Manon’, the grand opera by Jules Massenet, which will receive three fully staged performances with orchestral accompaniment in The Thrapston Plaza on 16th and 17th Feb at 7pm, and on 18th Feb at 5pm.
Following regular annual performances
of some of the best known opera favourites including Bizet’s ‘Carmen’, Verdi’s ‘Aida’ and Puccini’s ‘Madam Butterfly’ to name but three, ‘Manon’ is the tale of a young French girl
who, having avoided being sent to a convent to amend her ways, finds love and leads an extravagant lifestyle among the flamboyant Parisian society.
Thrapston Plaza Opera was founded
by Vincent Davy in 2010 with the aim of presenting good quality productions involving
the local community. Most of the 25 strong chorus are locally based but soloists playing principal rôles often come from further afield. All operas are sung in English accompanied by an orchestra of experienced players.
Never seen an opera before?
Not sure if it’s for you? Come and see ‘Manon’ for an evening of drama and intrigue. You’ll be caught up in the drama and amazed at the music.
