Good vibes only dancing
When Steph Newman was 14 years old, she needed a bit of extra pocket money. Her mum suggested that she should start a little dance group, or do a paper round! The rest is history. Step N Grooves is 23 years old this September.
What is the best thing about your job? The
What makes Step N Grooves different?
Different is what we are. We just do us and are really content doing it. We are a Pure Freestyle Disco and Street Dance school, which is a rarity in itself, focusing on teaching rhythm, skill and dance talent in some conventional and some
people. I have met some of my closest friends through Step N Grooves. I have had dancers start as little dots and become friends. I have even started teaching one of their children – and I am only in my 30’s! Frances and Katie, who are both brilliant teachers at the school, started with me at four and

we have never and will never expose our pupils to that. We have a regular N.A.T.D exam session and a yearly annual show weekend. There are no
six years – it’s endless laughter with
us, they are so special to me. I have so many pupils who offer to help in younger classes
and they are so much fun to have beside us. I have watched dancers grow into such kind and accomplished grown-ups, who I will be forever grateful to know. SNG has generated such a lovely community, who are all on board with the atmosphere and ethos that I strive to create.

What ages do you teach? Our youngest is nearing four years and oldest... well I won’t say, but we have a group of absolutely amazing adults of all ages!
Is it just fun, or can you take exams? Step N Grooves can be whatever you want it to be. Just
