Roeshot Hill Allotments
Once again Roeshot Hill Allotments is ying the ag as one of the UK’s very best green spaces.
A record number of parks and green spaces are collecting the Green Flag Award including the local allotment association at Roeshot Hill.
Roeshot Hill Allotments in Christchurch has been recognised yet again by the Green Flag Award Scheme for the
the site and manages new tenancies (under contract with the landlord, Christchurch Borough Council) and offers initial support
to new members. On-site the Association committee organises a Sunday morning Trading Hut, providing allotment garden supplies for members and associate members from other allotment sites in the borough, and a cafe opening on Sunday mornings in the warmer

The allotment site is among a record-breaking
1,797 UK parks and green spaces that have received the prestigious Green Flag Community Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.
This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

The Association is planning to install a third

We monitor and encourage biodiversity. We encourage, and indeed grow, owering plants for insects alongside produce grown for the table.
Roeshot Hill Allotments lie alongside the Lyndhurst Road (A35) on the edge of the borough and comprises over 150 full and half plots, starter plots and specially designed plots for disabled gardeners.
Chairman John Batchelor said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the sixth consecutive year which marks the commitment of members to allotment gardening and to the allotment site. We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining Roeshot Hill Allotments to
such a high standard”.
Roeshot Hill Allotment Association maintains
The highlight of the Association’s year, the Annual Summer Show, took place on Saturday 12th August at the beginning of National Allotments Week.
International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.
Each ag is a celebration of the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. The success of the scheme, especially in these challenging times, demonstrates just how much parks matter to people”.
