Wonderful work – the Church Hall gets a much needed facelift
St James’ Church Hall is undergoing a long overdue facelift with more to come and high hopes that we can start community lunches again in the near future. Community lunches are for anyone in the local area who wants to meet together to enjoy a simple hot meal, chat and make friends and, we hope, never feel isolated and on their own. Everyone is welcome. Exact details will be publicised once the hall is complete.
The Church Hall is used by so many in our community; Brownies, Thrapston Plaza Opera, History Society, Thrapston Ladies Club, Islip Choral Society, Line Dancers and Dog Training to name a few! It is also available to hire for birthdays, anniversaries, christenings, teas and is a very important part of the town.
Following on from a Gift Day at St James’ Church the Yarn Bombers have also donated the collections from their knitted High Street exhibition, and Thrapston Sports Club have supported it too.
Suzanne organised a 2020 Thrapston Calendar showcasing some of the fantastic shops/businesses in our high street and
at the same time raising money to give
the inside of the hall a much needed and overdue facelift. This was brought to fruition by the following businesses who sponsored a month in the calendar:
Hilly Horton, Flair Hair Design, Eden Florist,
Luke Williams Hair Design, Bens Chippy, Cutz for Mutz, Farm & Garden, Bennett’s, Indulgence, Rodney Davis Opticians, Jollys Toys, Thrapston Tiling.
Project Manager Suzanne says: “A huge thank you to all of you wonderful people for supporting this project by already having purchased a calendar. The calendar money is already being put to good use buying paint and a huge thank you to Mark Palmer, John Pickles and Paul Wallace who painted the ceilings in the hall, Melanie Regan,
Ross Powell for doing the glossing, Jamie and Jacob Wilford for painting the walls, but most of all a huge thank you to Stuart Thurlow and David Bailey who not only spent hours but days painting the hall right through. Windows, curtains and kitchen still to do but we’re getting there.”
