Thrapston Town Council Events
As Events Co-ordinator at Thrapston Town Council my role is wonderfully diverse and, especially this year, very busy! We have a full and varied calendar of events for 2020, with something to appeal to all ages.
In March three local choirs will come together to provide an evening of fantastic music in aid of Thrapston Mayor’s chosen charity, Mind. Each choir will have its own setlist with a range of songs including classical music, internationally renowned musicals (including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and some more recent pop numbers.
We have a change of pace in April with the Mayor’s Hog Roast Hop, featuring local band Ock ‘n’ Dough. The band will ‘call’ the dance while playing their unique blend of English, Latvian and American roots music.
May brings the 75th anniversary of VE Day which we are marking with a Street Party in the High Street on Saturday 9th May. We hope you can all make it so we can celebrate this piece of history as a community.
Every month in 2020 we have at least
one Movie Matinee on at the Plaza; we also have an unprecedented number of children’s screenings, with one every Wednesday in the school holidays. All movies are just £2 per person.
In September we are tying in with
the Nene Valley Festival to put on ‘Thrapston Festival’, our week-long event taking place between the 12th – 19th September. The event will culminate in
a party in the park to close the Festival; this will take place on Saturday 19th September so please put this date in the diary.
As in recent years our Fireworks display will be on the 5th November and our Christmas Festival is due to take place on Saturday 28th November.
