It’s little won- der that when the aerobic capacities of top ath- letes are measured, Nordic skiers come out on top. The VO2 max is the scale used. The highlight of our expedition was climbing up to the hardangervidda and learning of the Tele- mark raid carried out during the war by Norwe- gian and British Commandos on the heavy-water plant. We skied on some of the tracks they had used for extraction. Our close group grew closer still. Thanks to the Sandhurst Trust for their gen- erous support.

This expedition would comprise five days of diving, with the more experienced divers taking on the giddying depths of the Nitrox SDI course, and for the novices, the chance to earn their Open Water PADI qualifica- tion. Having landed in Larnaca, the cadets located their rental TCV and took to the streets of Cyprus in search of their hard standing for the week.
