Becky Hewes started Handpicked Wine Box in May 2021. Having worked in the wine trade for over 25 years, she’s always loved sharing her passion for wine with people.
What made you choose Thrapston? I grew up in Thorpe Waterville and after University I moved to New Zealand, where I got introduced to the world of wine. When I returned to the UK, I settled in Thrapston and 15 years
on we have recently moved to Achurch. Despite despatching nationwide, we are
still very much a Thrapston business.
What is the best thing about your job? I love being able to reignite peoples passion for wine, or simply introduce them to something new. I meet so many people that are stuck in a rut drinking supermarket wines. It’s such a joy, helping them find their next favourite.
Favourite product on sale today? Having spent so much time in the vineyards of
New Zealand I have a real soft spot for their
Sauvignon Blanc, however at this time of year you can’t beat curling up in front of the fire and getting cosy with a glass or two of red. This is why we created our fireside reds wine cases – the perfect accompaniment to a lazy autumn Sunday afternoon.

Do you sell wine gifts? Yes we have a huge range of wine gifts to suit all occasions and every budget.
This Christmas we have launched a selection of hampers with a real focus on local quality produce. We offer fine wines by the bottle, and an extensive range of two, three and four bottle wine sets and as well as themed wine cases. Our wine subscriptions are
also popular gifts. And with nationwide next working day delivery, sending a wine gift really couldn’t be easier.
