After a lengthy search, the police had discovered three of the missing traps set under a hedgerow, at the side of the Wyldersham Road.
A telephone call led police to a pub in Wyldersham where two people were overheard talking about selling a metal tractor seat. They left in a green van and the landlord was able to read the vehicle registration number and write it down.
The information was relayed to the police headquarters. Within a few days, three men were arrested in connection with the theft from Barns Farm, and setting seven illegal traps to catch wild animals.
