This year’s theme was to achieve Army Proficiency Certificate Star passes as well as team building with the adventure training.
The adventure training package proved to be very popular. Split over two sites, the Go Ape high ropes course provided a challenging confidence activity which ended in a very long aerial runway. Whilst at Carlton Lodge, the cadets got to do mountain biking, climbing wall, command tasks, canoeing, raft building and some bush craft skill including fire starting and toasting marshmallows.
We also had the exercise where cadets “tabbed” out to their harbour area to then as part of their APC carried out recce’s, ambushes and section attacks.
Cadet Sergeant Chloe Edwards of Ellesmere Platoon has been made the Lord Lieutenants Cadet at a ceremony held at Shrewsbury Castle.
Chloe was presented with her badge of office and a certificate by the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire Sir Algernon Heber-Percy at a ceremony in Shrewsbury Castle on Thursday 5th April.
Cadet Sergeant Chloe Edwards has demonstrated outstanding character and drive from the moment she joined Whitchurch platoon in January 2014 and transferred to Ellesmere Platoon in March 2017.

Our Annual Camp took us to Strensall in Yorkshire. This was a camp that we had not been to before, with both ranges and training area on its door step and adventure training based at Go Ape and Carlton Lodge Activity Centre.
This year we had an added complication of a 5.56 Ball Ammunition ban which we overcame by providing shooting on the 25m Range with Heckler
