success in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. A key factor has been increased partic- ipation and we wish to continue challenging as many cadets as possible.
• Public Relations Triumph. Somerset Army Cadets have succeeded in garnering awards beginning with the awards to the PR Team, for the fifth year running for Best Newsletter/Publication and Best Photographic Portfolio in the annual Wilkinson Sword Award for Public Relations Excellence.
• SMI (CSM) Phil Coward, SMI (CSM) Dean Brown and Lt Rob Wing were awarded the Lord-Lieu- tenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service at a ceremony at the Bishop’s Palace, Wells.
• The Silver Bugles Band have performed 28 official performances throughout the year. The story of their performance at Ypres and the Menin appears elsewhere. Their standards remain outstanding and we remain hugely fortunate to have them as the public face of the ACF.
