P. 15
Unusually, one of the boats misjudged the whereabouts of Calshot Spit and took a short break from moving whilst the tide came in;
a little nudge was given from the Committee Boat to help them on their way!
Conditions changed overnight and it became “very wet and lumpy”. All boats made good time and after a rest the teams met up for some French hospitality and some Wine Cave shopping!
The return trip was quite lively and for Colin Walker and his crew on Jura a bit more than bouncy as they were put on hold by the French Navy whilst a submarine passed in
front of them - a bit hairy in the pitch black and a lumpy sea!!
As sole competitor in Class 1 Colin Walker’s Jura was in first place at the end!
Class 2 won by Michael Barham on Skua 1V, in 2nd place Greg Roddick on Falcon.
MDL AUTUMN SERIES
The MDL Autumn Series began on Sunday 6th October with 2 races planned for each day. Many modes of racing can be chosen and adjustments made to TCF accordingly, fully crewed or double handed, white sails, with or without spinnakers.
2025
Our racing schedule is planned well in advance to enable the passage racing to take place with the tides going in the right direction. Many other Clubs also plan theirs ahead of time so as to allow a period of consultation to avoid major conflicts of shared interest to enable Solent racers to compete in all the racing open to them locally.
