MDL WEST PRINCESSA DOUBLE
A glorious day in June, saw some delightful weather and a steady westerly breeze. 20 boats in two classes got underway at 09:35. The fleet disappearing quickly downwind towards the rounding mark 6E, West Princessa. The tide turned, the wind increased and within 3.5 hours the first boat approached the finish.
Akarana took line honours but on corrected time she was 4th.
Class 1 winner Jo Richard’s Woof, in 2nd
place Paul Dunstan on Mandarin.
Class 3 was won by Michael Barham on Skua
1V, in 2nd place Bob Gardner on Now or Never. Prayers to “you know who” for similar
conditions for all future Double Handed races. From experience I can say it really makes a huge difference to the racing if there is no rain!
MDL CHERBOURG DOUBLE
The start was in the vicinity of Coronation buoy. The racers set off in light winds, heading west towards their destination. There was a glorious sunset and all looked good for a nice overnight passage race.
