Following the events of the weekend, the Squadron had their own in-house celebration of the coronation at their regular meeting on the Tuesday evening. With the premises decorated for celebration activities, there was a Coronation Quiz and some games, including “pin the crown on King Charles” and pizza for all.
As an added extra the Squadron had acquired, through South and West Yorkshire Wing, Coronation Coins (similar to the ones for the previous year’s Platinum Jubilee) for all members of the Squadron: cadets, staff and committee. The Squadron President, Major Stan Hardy, was on hand decked out in his uniform as a Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, to present the coins to everyone. He also had a message from Buckingham Palace to read out, on behalf of the newly crowned King and Queen:
“Both my wife and I are enormously grateful to all the communities, families, neighbours and friends who are coming together across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth to mark our Coronation.
We greatly appreciate everyone’s efforts to organise such celebrations, and very much hope they will be enjoyable and happy occasions.
As we look to the future, we feel deeply touched and sustained by the heartfelt good wishes and support of so many kind people around the country.”

 CORONATION
By Petty Officer Cadet Josh Smith
As part of my duty as First Sea Lord’s Cadet, I was given the honour of attending the King’s Coronation on behalf of the Sea Cadets (Eastern Area). Myself and the other First Sea Lord’s Cadets, together with a handful of other selected Cadets, were positioned on the bandstand of the Mall just next to Admiralty Arch. We had an amazing view of the King’s procession passing
to and from Westminster Abbey. We were then escorted down the Mall and positioned right in front of the gates to Buckingham Palace where we were able to watch the fly-past. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am extremely grateful that I was able to attend such a memorable occasion.
