SUMMER ADVENTURES
A Recap of X-Ray Company's Thrilling Activities
As the summer sun graced Scarborough's coastline, the Scarborough Royal Marine Cadets Detachment (RMCD) embarked on a series of exhilarating adventures that left cadets and staff alike with unforgettable memories. At the forefront of these endeavours was X-Ray Company, whose annual summer camp at Beckingham brought together over 280 eager participants for an action-packed week.
X-Ray Company's summer camp was nothing short of spectacular, with a diverse range of activities and training programmes catering to cadets of all experience levels. From wide-eyed newcomers attending their first camp to seasoned leaders honing their skills, this event had something for everyone.
The foundation cadre provided a nurturing environment for cadets taking their inaugural
step into camp life. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, they learned the ropes and soaked up valuable knowledge. For those aspiring to lead,
the Section Commanders Cadre was a priceless opportunity to acquire field leadership skills, setting them on a path to becoming the next generation of leaders.
A highlight of this year's camp was the introduction of the Tactical Infrastructure in a Built-Up Area (TIBUA) package. X-Ray Company's senior cadets had the honour of being the first to experience this cutting-edge training, offering them a glimpse into the future of Royal Marine Cadet education.
After a gruelling 3-day field exercise that tested their mettle, cadets took on a final day of physical challenges and leadership tasks. This thrilling activity day ensured that any remaining energy was put to good use, fostering teamwork, and resilience.
The summer camp was an unqualified success, not only providing cadets with thrilling experiences but also imparting them with invaluable skills. These newfound abilities will undoubtedly serve as stepping stones for their future endeavours within the Sea Cadets RMC programme. With each camp, they move closer to becoming well-rounded leaders and capable individuals.

Cadets RMC continued their dedication to training throughout the week on parade nights. Field craft training sessions sharpened
the cadets' outdoor survival skills, instilling the resourcefulness and knowledge needed to thrive in the field.
Boating activities were another cornerstone of their summer activities.
Going afloat once a week on the water gave the cadets opportunities to developed seamanship skills while sailing, windsurfing, rowing and kayaking. These experiences on the water are not only educational but also incredibly enjoyable, making them a highlight of the cadets' summer activities.
Scarborough Sea Cadets RMCD demonstrated their commitment to excellence at the recent
L98 Training and Introduction Weekend held at Beckingham Camp. First-time cadets displayed remarkable determination as they mastered Initial Weapon Training (IWT), acquiring essential safe weapon handling skills. They also successfully completed their 6-monthly Weapon Handling Tests, showcasing their dedication to safety and precision.
Experienced cadets took on the challenge of a 100m Introduction Shoot, led by the accomplished Range Team. Their marksmanship skills were on full display as they exhibited precision and discipline, a testament to the high standards upheld by the RMC.

Through a combination of rigorous training, thrilling adventures, and a commitment to excellence, these cadets are not only shaping their own futures but also embodying the core values of the Royal Marine Cadets.
