January-December 2015
January – Sadly, informed of the Death of Miss Mary Farr on her 102nd Birthday, the Branch was represented at the Funeral by Mrs Yvonne Whittington – Thick and Husband Pete. We later received a Gift of £100 for the Branch. Committee Meeting Held and plans made for the rest of year, welfare visits and flowers sent to 2 members.
February – Chairman’s meeting held in London, updated on current changes within the Association, with information relayed back to Branch at AGM.
March – AGM and Corps Day Held at The National Memorial Arboretum, a lovely day, and very lucky with the weather.
April – A group attended the college of Food Demonstration given by students based on WRAP – Waste Resources Action Program.
June – Turning the Pages at the National Memorial Arboretum was attended by 2 members a very memorable Ceremony, blessed with sunny weather and buffet lunch. Armed Forces Day at the NMA, a very full and interesting day, our thanks to RCDM and Pte Bishal Gurang, for bearing our Standard on all three occasions, he did us proud.
July – BBC tour at the Mail Box Birmingham, a very interesting and interactive behind the scenes tour of local Radio broadcasting and local regional news programs. We ended with recording a short radio play, with “sounds off. We were then sent the recording to our home computers.
September – Committee meeting, sadly one of our newly appointed committee member was unable to attend, condolences sent. Congratulations to Lt Col Philip Saunders on being accepted as trustee, and to Lyn Chater for being accepted onto the committee of Friends of the AMS Museum.
October – Autumn Meeting. Held at Tallyho Pershore Road, Birmingham. Guest Speaker Mr David Tudor who enlightened us on the pitfalls to avoid in making Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Probate.
November – Remembrance Sunday. Angela Bagnato represented the Branch at the Cenotaph, she was delighted as the QA’s were in group B and the 2nd to March off. Other members attended the service at RCDM’s service at the Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham.
December – Branch Christmas Meal, attended by members of the University and RCDM and Branch members, which was enjoyed by all. A good opportunity to socialize with current serving members and future Q A’s. Sadly, informed of Death of Miss Mabel Wood, A former Chairman of this Branch.
