2018 Annual General Meeting
Note these are proposed minutes, subject to adoption at the 2019 AGM
Minutes of the AGM held on Friday 14th September 2018 from 4.00 pm to 4.50 pm at the Great Yorkshire Show Ground Harrogate.
Approximately 73 members were present.
1. Welcome
Grant Cathro (Vice Chair) opened the AGM and welcomed our president (Medwyn Williams) and past president (Bill Hargreaves) along with everyone else present. He then addressed the AGM with his speech (see attached)
2. Apologies for Absence.
Fiona Shenfield, Ian Simpson, Neil & Daphne Hope, Bob Herbert.
3. President’s address.
Medwyn Williams addressed the AGM and read out the names of fellow members who had sadly passed away over the past 12 months. The meeting stood for a minute’s silence.
4. Election of positions.
It was proposed by Malcom Evans that Bill Hargreaves be awarded the position of President Emeritus There were no objections.

Welsh Branch member, served on the branch committee for several years and was also a qualified judge.
NOTE 1 Mr W. Thornton is stepping down as Vice President due to health reasons.
NOTE 2 Grant Cathro advised that he is standing down as Vice Chairman a year early for health reasons.
NOTE 3 Trustees will address this at their next meeting. We have received no nominations to date.
5. Minutes of the 2017 AGM (held at Malvern)
These minutes were published in July 2018 Simply vegetables magazine, with no objections received.
6. Matters Arising.
The where no matters arising.
7. To receive the Annual Report of the Trustees for 2017/18.
Fiona Shenfield had prepared the Annual Report of the Trustees. Which was read out by Mark Hall See attached report.
8. To receive the Annual Report and Accounts for 2017
Dennis Barry noted that the audited accounts had been published in the July simply vegetables magazine. Copies were also present at the AGM. There were no objections to the accounts.
9. To consider the Election of an Independent Examiner
Proposed by Grant Cathro and Seconded by David Allison that the independent examiner Cutler & Co. Chartered Certified accountants Leeds, be accepted.
10. Recommendation to increase membership.
Recommendation to increase Memberships Fees to support Branches;
Individual Membership currently £17, increase to £20
Joint membership/Societies currently £19, increase to £22 (Education & Junior Members to remain as is)
