again to Gareth for his hard work and to all our sponsors and partners (Companies, Couples and Individuals).
Allan Manning had advised that he would be standing down as our Vice Chair due
to him retiring and the fact that he and Marion would be moving back home over the border. Allan also stood down as a committee member, however will remain a Scottish Branch Member.
Ian Stocks thanked Allan on behalf of
the Committee and on a personal note
and presented Allan with some “Scottish Water” for a wee dram or two plus a special T-Shirt reflecting Allan’s jammy win at the 2018 Scottish branch Championships with tomatoes. There has always been banter on Allan’s inability to grow decent tomatoes,
so it was a double whammy for Allan to a) find out he had won last year and b) that Ian Stocks had judged it.
Photos show Allan receiving his whiskey and of his new tomato T – Shirt. (The back says “Scotland’s No. 1 tomato grower, only because an eejit judged them”).
Now back to the AGM....... Frank Taylor was honoured to have been asked to take on the Role of Vice Chair. We look forward to Frank taking on this new role.
We always encourage members to attend our meetings and also join the Committee and I’m delighted to announce that we have a new Committee member, namely Jim Mercer. Thanks for joining the Committee Jim.
The Scottish Branch Committee members continue to work together as a strong cohesive team and we have fun. Having a big team means that everyone does their
bit to help which makes a huge difference to the running of the Branch and helping out in various activities throughout the year (and it doesn’t then fall to the same
folks all the time). As always, our meetings have a full agenda filled, of course with plenty of humour, biscuits and cake. Only
4 Committee members were unable to attend the AGM this year and we send them our good wishes and thank them for their continued support; David & Margaret Burns, Bill Duff and George McSkimming. We wish you well.
