humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and
turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their
land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13–14 (KJV)
In the Old Testament, God chose to use plagues
and diseases to demonstrate His power. But, in the New
Testament Jesus went about healing illnesses and diseases
in displaying God’s power and to draw people to the Lord.
“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages,
teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel
of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every
disease among the people.”
Matthew 9:35 (KJV)
“For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed
upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.”
Mark 3:10 (KJV)
“And when he had called unto him his twelve
disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits,
to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and
all manner of disease.”
Matthew 10:1 (KJV)
This display of healing miracles proved to be solid
evidence to many that Jesus was indeed, the Son of God.
Throughout the New Testament, we read where Jesus
also passed this same healing power on to His disciples.
“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and
gave them power and authority over all devils, and to
cure diseases.” Luke 9:1 (KJV)
We know that God allows pestilences and pandemics
today, because of the fallen world in which we live.
