IV. RATIONALE:
As we observed nowadays, heard from radios, news from T.V and read on newspapers, disaster occurrences is one
of the events that are usually happening and are not premeditated. Earthquake and fire occurrences are disasters
that are of natural cause and/or human error. Buildings, houses, and other infrastructures collapsed due to
earthquakes or if not being burned due to destructive fires. These two hazards, namely fire and earthquake also
causes loss of lives. Their effects usually have more detrimental effects to the affected populace especially the
children who are most vulnerable due to their lack of capability to protect themselves as to knowledge when it comes
to disaster events and physical capability. These scenarios is one of our government's effort trying to prevent, lessen,
and if possible avoid the great impact when these hazards strike.
In this regard, the MDRRM Office in partnership with the Bureau of Fire and Protection, Alfonso Usta Fire Station
initiated the conduct of Fire Drill and Earthquake Drill to all public schools in this municipality in a quarterly basis. This
is to enhance the knowledge and skills of every student/learner to fire and earthquake. Through the repetitive act of
doing the said drills, this could establish a muscle memory on what to do before, during and after these hazards. By
establishing a muscle memory, this will act as automatic action done by a every learner when these two strikes, since
said events occur unexpectedly. May be experienced by anyone, occur somewhere else or of unpredicted time.

V.TARGET PARTICIPANTS:
Participants are students of all Public and Private schools and Child Minding Centers/Day Care Centers in our
Municipality.
