Example: Write the given information as an equality

The relative value of two numbers can be compared by using the real number line. We say that “a is
less than b” (written mathematically as a b ) if a lies to the left of b on the number line.

We say that “a is greater than b” (mathematically as a b ) if a lies to the right of b on the number
line.
