The Battle of the Boots -By James
Nowadays when you go to to buy football boots there are two killer brands Nike and Adidas so what to pick? Here I will discuss the differences between the Adidas Ace and the Nike Superfly CR7s: their appearance, feel, price and endorsement. At the end of this article you will have the knowledge to choose a suitable pair of football boots for you.
Firstly the appearance: the Nike CR7 superfly has a fluro orange band going around the rim of the boot which then fades into a metallic blue, that covers the side of the boot. The laces are thin and are a shark like grey. The boots also have a knitted sock collar thats fits snugly around your ankles. On the other hand the pure controls have an ocean blue thin mesh on the toe area which changes into a grey like black. The Purecontrol’s comes with two tabs on the front and back of the collar to make putting the boots on a breeze.
. Both boots are really lightweight and both come with collars for your ankles to provide a tight fit. The Purecontrol comes without any laces and instead a tight elastic like strip where the laces would be to provide a clean strike on the ball.
Thirdly the price: these boots are both quite expensive boots with the CR7s costing $400 and the Purecontrol’s costing $500. Consequently you would only buy these boots if you are a very serious football player or have a few spare bucks to spend.
Finally the endorsement/ professionals that use these boots: This doesn't really make a difference but if you are someone who really wants to use your hero's boots Cristiano Ronaldo wears the CR7s and Paul Pogba and Mesut Ozil are the biggest names that wear the Purecontrol.
In conclusion the Nike Mercurials CR7 are the cheaper boot with the better appearance and are made for narrow feet which are designed for attacking players like Ronaldo. The Adidas Purecontrol is the better fitting boot because it is wider but can also fit narrow feet. In short it’s not the boots that make the player, it’s the skills that make the player, So in the end you pick the boot that is right for you.
Next the feel: both boots are synthetic, so they’re made of knitted materials and are both one piece, whereas leather boots are many pieces stitched together. The adidas boots are made for a good touch and grip on the ball and fits wide and narrow feet unlike the superflys they fit narrow feet and are for dribbling skills because the boot has little dimples all over to grip the ball.
