CEDAR MEADOW
FARMS
The Groff family is a fourth-generati on farm family who look at farming their
300+ acres in a very unique way. Partly because they farm a hilly part of Southern
Lancaster County and partly to keep the soil out of the Chesapeake Bay, they
are a strict no ti ll farm. They are committ ed to looking at farming diff erently,
including the use of cover crops and helping other farms apply these techniques
to grow vegetables with higher nutriti onal density. Uti lizing cover crops can
ferti lize soil, suppress weeds, and impede pests–all things that might otherwise
require chemicals like ferti lizer, herbicides, and pesti cides.
