FUN FACT:
Before the aerobridge was invented, passengers would board the airplane by climbing something called the air stairs! You can still find some airports using airstairs these days, but it is definitely not that common.
The first PLB in the United States was invented in 1959.
Lastly, the flight information display system is a monitor that displays updated and real time detail on all departing and arriving aircraft. This includes departure/arrival time, flight status (delayed, etc.) and location of check-in counters, gates and baggage belts.
If you’re having troubles finding your gate or if you want to see the status of your flight, you can always refer to the FIDS! Flight information can be found on the internet too.
