The passenger check-in system is an important part of security surveillance.
They verify the identities of passengers to make sure that they are not on the blacklist, have stolen/fake tickets, have invalid travel documents or carry prohibited items in their baggage.
The baggage handling system prevents acts of terrorism or theft. Baggage is screened to detect explosives.

Passenger and baggage reconciliation is a measure done to ensure that the passenger has already boarded the airplane. If the passenger is missing, his baggage has to be removed from the flight.
