 MANAGING AN AIRLINE
3. Deciding on how many times to fly
Airlines also need to plan and decide on when and what
time to fly as well as how many times to fly.
Some considerations and information that will help the airlines
in making decisions on the timings to fly and how many times to
fly include passenger preference, congestion at the airport, curfew of the airport as some airports do not open 24/7,
aircraft turnaround time which refers to the time taken for the aircraft to get ready to fly again, starting from the time it parks at the airport gate till it is ready to depart, as well as
aircraft utilization because the aircraft cannot constantly be flying and needs to go for maintenance to ensure its safety.
This stage is also known as Schedule Development.
   FUN FACT:
Did you know that airlines’ schedules are published a year in advance?
