-horrors - as somehow I had misunderstood what she had asked us to do. I felt she could have been a little kinder as the map was actually brilliant. That was something to explain at Miss Balaam's mark reading so I never made that mistake again!!
French with Miss Girling was also memorable - partly because she was so petite and neat and tidy. We started off by being given French names - I was Josette; and the French songs she taught us I have never forgotten - Savez-vous plante les choux? and Joli Moulin A(u?) Vent. She always wore lovely perfume of which I would get a 'whiff' as I was door monitor and held the door for her when she entered - and left. Once we were put into Divisions for French (end of Lower Fourth?) I was lucky to continue with her as I think she was a very good teacher. Others had Miss Hillier (I think for the really brainy ones - Sandy would remember) or Miss Frowde.
My question - when and how did Ruth have Sex Education with Miss Bryan and how did I miss that? All I recall as extras in the Sixth Form was Ballroom Dancing with Miss Adams! The only Sex Education I remember (apart form a discreet book given to me by my mother) is the 'Hygiene' lessons in Lower Fourth - with Miss Bryan I think - which covered general health and cleanliness etc and culminated in a film about a girl entering puberty (although I don't think that word was actually used). The only other lessons which involved sex were in my O-level Biology with Mrs Traynor, but it was pretty cursory and very 'scientific' - nothing about bras in adverts!
Still too hot - but rain is forecast - yippee!

I was going to have a rest this afternoon, I did in the garden and then got restless so came indoors and have now been driven by the heat out of the conservatory with no other option than to send this email! I don't know about anyone else but last night was unbearable for sleeping even with the windows open.
Jen - have a great bubble weekend, hopefully some rain and lots of good food and cocktails! Sorry to hear the glow plugs are still not glowing - obviously Peter likes your picking him up!
Val - loved the photos - it looked so lovely and cool in the water.
Mag P - St Andrews Totteridge - have you managed to open up for private prayer at all? We started this week just gone with two days each of a couple of hours at the two churches in the benefice. I was at All Saints yesterday (lovely and cool) but the take up hasn't been high - 1 on Monday late pm and 2 yesterday over lunchtime. None on Tuesday at our sister church!
We now have to work out when we open, what sort of service to put on (no singing) maximum number with 1m plus social distancing and what do we do if we have "visitors" following on from their watching our online services! We should be ok at AS as the smaller church number but at St Andrews Poolbrook the contemporary service is up to 150+
I don't remember Caroline Thompson either.
To move on.....
Miss Girling - yes she was so young when she first started, smiling and outgoing. However I do seem to remember she seemed to get more serious and could it be "sad" later on - was it a failed romance? When did she leave and do we know what happened to her? My name was Jeanne and I remember the songs "It pleut il pleut bergere et ron ron ron petit patapon" I was
