Now I have just received an email from my golf club announcing that catering - in a limited and socially distanced form - is about to restart, so I thought of Mag P who is also a member of the same establishment. In the past I have been a regular supporter of a range of social functions at the club and in fact hold some vouchers (won at the last Quiz Supper in October) entitling me and 7 friends to free Sunday Carvery lunch - still waiting to be able to encash those!
If I haven't mentioned you specifically no snub is intended, so trust all is well in Victoria, Australia (Maggie R) - is the lockdown easing? For those of you nearer my home in the south of England - Pat, Ann, Ruth and Daphne hope you are able to ease the lockdown satisfactorily. From her emails one gathers that Val M - the instigator of this 'round robin email group' (well done Val) - is demonstrating a degree of bravado and enjoying relative freedom in anticipation of a second lockdown if it comes - good luck Val.
Thanks to everyone for the recent welter of reminiscences about teachers we all recall! How I wish I had been a fly on the wall when Miss Eatock tried to electrocute many of you in a Science lesson demonstration. As was rightly pointed out, in our increasingly safety conscious and risk averse society, one would be unlikely to get away with that nowadays - but it makes a good story!

Greetings from Fredericksburg, Texas. It was nice of you, Jenny, to think of me. The big upsurge in Texas is totally expected and everyone's sacrifices during the original lockdown have been squandered. Our governor is Republican - need I say more ?! My town is small but attractive to visitors and as soon as restrictions were lifted they poured in to our B&B's and hotels, unmasked. So now 'bingo', we started getting Covid. Numbers are up every day and our mayor has just made mask wearing mandatory, thank goodness. I've done well until now, living on my own, doing masses of much - needed work in my nearly 4 acres when it was sufficiently cool. (Don't gasp, land is cheaper here!) Now it's in the mid 30s each day and I've been sewing instead. I think it's true to say that, at present, I'm angry and fed up with everything that's going on. It seems hard to see beyond it.
BUT, I am fortunate to live where I do, and watching the deer with their babies in my yard, which they feel safe to browse in, is a delight. I also have hummingbirds to feed. I have air- conditioning, am surrounded by beautiful trees, haven't lost a job as I am retired, and have never gone hungry, so enough complaining!
I hope all of you keep safe and well, and don't get too impatient to open up. Better safe than sorry.
