I saw a magical open-air production of Twelfth Night on Brownsea Island in 1975, with peacocks strutting on and off the set, calling to each other at opportune and not so opportune moments - very Illyria, maybe.
Back to the present. Thanks for all the news, videos, evocative descriptions of birds and blossom. It's helps massively in keeping spirits up in such an uncertain world. I find it more and more unnerving that you cannot take any statistics or pronouncements at face value anymore. So, who knows where we are!
However... Let's stay positive and find silver linings. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I've recently enjoyed a virtual tour of the RA's Picasso and Paper exhibition which I missed just before lockdown.

I seem to recall Ann played Sir Andrew Aguecheek in that production- and very well too. I particularly remember ‘Tom Sawyer’ in our first year; I think you were Tom, Mag (Peart)? Talking at Old Girls’ reunions always revealed what different memories we all had; trite but true. I found it fascinating how hearing others’ memories sometimes stirred up my own. Though, as you said, Pat, Val M.’s diaries have helped illumine many events. Perhaps you should include a few excerpts, Val!
Interesting Pat should say that about English lit. O Level. I have often wondered why we all didn’t do it! Strange for such an intellectually driven school. Perhaps at the time I wasn’t as enthusiastic as I would have been later on... I don’t remember being given the option, but probably we all were?
It’s a comfort and inspiration to hear what lifts our various spirits during this lockdown, so keep it coming!

I remember Mrs. D’Arcy
vividly. She was an excellent teacher. I always recall her saying ‘Chaucer is my favourite poet’, in her somewhat plummy voice, with much emphasis on the ‘favourite’. I didn’t at all
