                                                  Polynesian Explorers

More than a thousand years ago, the Polynesians were skilled explorers of the Pacific Ocean.
They sailed all over the South Pacific, including an extremely long journey from Tahiti to
Hawaii. In addition to Hawaii, the Polynesians discovered many other islands, and they began
trading goods! with the people on those islands, too. Why were the Polynesians so successful?
Researchers today are trying to find out.
