Above: That's what we're talking about. The cool view from Rodger Mclean's windows -down MG ( It has air
conditioning but he admits he's a little afraid to use when it gets really hot. ) made you forget that it was still in the
upper 90s out there in the sunshine, even at 5 pm. The group maintained a respectful distance so everyone could
enjoy the turns without having to white knuckle it because of a car too close behind. Not seen in this photo would
be Stuart Naylor's zippy MG (below) , top down and British Green, blending in with the wooded landscape.
The Verdict for t his Drive? All the thumbs were up
and if you missed it, what a shame. Not only was the
drive a welcome relief from the heat, there were
great cars, enthusiastic participants, a cleverly plotted
route, and at the end, the chance to stop for dinner at
The Loveless Cafe. We had an hour and a half behind
the wheel by the time we passed by its beckoning
location. It was close to 6:45 pm, the dinner rush was
over, there was no wait for a table. Perfect Timing.
A cold glass of sweet tea or a sip of chardonnay, a
choice of vegetables that only a true southern cook
can produce, a plate full of home made biscuits and
preserves, and three kinds of pie on the menu, plus
take out service-- We couldn't have done any better.
No wonder everyone wants to come drive with us.
