(“to need”; literally, “to have need of”)—for example, Ho bisogno di un caffè (“I need a cof-
fee”). “Bisogna che” requires the use of subjunctive (see the second and last example below).

EXAMPLES

Bisogna che tu parta. It’s necessary for you to leave.
