Thalams
Thalam or Taal refers to rhythm in Carnatic music. Indian music
is usually performed in a structure of beats called Thalam.
The Thalam structure usually repeats in a cyclical harmony called
‘Aavarthanam’.
Thalam provides a musician with a creative framework for
rhythmic improvisation or Kalpana swaras.
