Oliver Reginald Kaizana Tambo’s legacy honoured
In 2017 the Eastern Cape Department of Education formed a partnership with several organisations to build a legacy in honour of the late Oliver Reginald Tambo, the South African anti-apartheid politician and revolutionary who served as President of the African National Congress from 1967 to 1991.
This partnership will see major additions to the OR Tambo Technical High School situated in Nkantlo, Mbizana local municipality in Alfred Nzo East. The works include additional teaching and administrative spaces, a library,
full mobile science laboratory, electrical engineering workshop and telematics centre, classroom furniture and basic services (electricity, water and sanitation). This project is being implemented by the Development Bank of Southern Africa and should be nalised by the 1st quarter of 2020.
In addition, three schools will receive prefab structures and basic services and the Mbizana District Of ce will also be revamped.
