“The whole is bigger than the sum of its parts” this is the motto that Mr Bongani Radebe lives by. Born and bred in Soweto, Gauteng, Bongani took up the position of Infrastructure Programme Manager at the Department in January 2013.
Having been in the infrastructure environment since 1997, Bongani is a seasoned project manager. Some of the critical success factors for infrastructure programme management, according to Bongani are value for money, quality, timeous delivery, health and safety, engagement with stakeholders, and inter-governmental relations.
“Seeing kids go to schools that have decent infrastructure, including basic services and knowing that I am making a valuable contribution in providing this decent infrastructure is my motivation for coming to work each day. Bongani is an ardent believer that proper infrastructure does contribute to the pass rate because we are providing a conducive environment in which our children can learn.”
Bongani’s work typically involves doing site inspections on active projects to monitor progress, interacting with district personnel and implementing agents, and monitoring project progress on the EFMS.
