No. 4 – Class Skills Inventory
Estimated Time: 45 minutes
Overview/Goals:
This exercise will help you better understand why you’re taking the classes you’re taking and
how the sometimes “hidden” skills you may learn in your classes will help you better develop
your portfolio.
Instructions:
1. From your current course list, brainstorm a minimum of six skills you have learned, or are
learning, in each of your classes. Think through the class projects you have done, tests you
have taken, classroom discussions you have participated in or reading assignments that
may have been assigned.

career field. For Evaluation Only
Once you have completed this section, take the time to map these back to
Exercise No. 1 Your Career Portfolio Planner and be sure to include how you
are going to “prove” you have these skills!
Example:
You have chosen to specialize as a dietary manager and are currently taking an ethics course.
What skills will you gain by taking a course in ethics that will be useful to you as a dietary
manager? How will you put those skills to use in your everyday job?
