LATE POLICY
Rationale:
Punctuality is an important expectation of student behaviour. Punctual students show respect for teachers, their own learning, and the learning of others by not disrupting a class in session. In addition, punctual students hear important instructions that may be given at the start of class.
This policy attempts to provide a balance between clear consequences for numerous unexcused late arrivals, so that punctuality becomes a habit for students. This policy also recognizes that
sometimes being late is unavoidable. E.g. a medical appointment is considered an excused late.
Main Campus
School start time for grades 1-8: 8:15 am First takbeerat
8:20 am Students should be seated in their classrooms
Campus 2
School start time JK & SK: 9:00 am First takbeerat
9:05 am Students should be seated in their classrooms
Hifz: 8:00 am First takbeerat
8:05 am Students should be seated in their classrooms
Procedures:
On a monthly basis, a student will be permitted one unexcused late for morning registration. A white late slip will be given to the student at the time of the first late. Students who are late for any reason must check in at reception for a late slip in order to be admitted to class. As a rule, students with subsequent unexcused late arrivals will be assigned consequences as follows:
2nd late Pink slip will be given. Parent must check in student at reception.
3rd late 4th late 5th late 6th late
Orange slip will be given. Parent must check in student at reception.
Red slip will be given. Parent must check in student at reception.
Student will be given in school suspension. Parent must come in to the office for discussion. Student will be suspended for the day and must return home.
