The Retrained & Remarkable Challenge
Launched in 2018, the Retrained & Remarkable Challenge is an incentive-based program designed to shine a spotlight on horses that may be overlooked in the adoption process, typically because they are smaller in stature; have a stable vice like cribbing or weaving; or they have a career-limiting injury from which they have been rehabbed.
Originally funded through the WaterShed Foundation, the R&R Challenge offers adopters of 100 Challenge-eligible Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds an invitation to compete in Retrained & Remarkable-specific classes for up to $5,000 in cash and prizes at one of two horse shows (one Standardbred-only and one Thoroughbred-only) held in the Fall of 2020. Adoptions for the 2020 R&R Challenge are open until December 31, 2019 and are available to all approved adopters.
