Our journey continues along the coastline to Peggy’s Cove, one of several fishing villages built around the snug harbors of the craggy south coast. An old lighthouse standing on a massive granite ledge and fishing boats moored along weatherworn wharves are a part of the atmosphere that makes this cove one of the most photographed sites in North America. We will explore the shops and have lunch here. An early return to Halifax will give you time to do your own thing this afternoon and evening. A superb harbor that extends far inland is the reason this city was one of the first English settlements in Canada. The harbor area is always bustling with activity, and the shops and restaurants are great. BL
n MONDAY, JULY 28, 2025: Cape Breton beckons us and tonight we will be in Baddeck at the Inverary Inn. Baddeck was a thriving shipbuilding center during the era of wooden ships. Our home for two nights will be on the shore of beautiful Bras D’or Lake. Making our way there we will visit the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Park for a tour. The fortress is the largest ongoing, historical reconstruction project in Canada covering some 20 square miles of the massive fortress erected by the French between 1720 and 1745 to defend their colonies. An included lunch at a fortress tavern while here. BLD

n THURSDAY, JULY 24, 2025: An exciting adventure awaits us as we leave this morning. Lunch along the way. After lunch we will have a tour of West Point. Overnight in New Haven, CT. L
n FRIDAY, JULY 25, 2025: We then travel to Portland, ME and visit the Portland Headlight. Another lunch stop as we continue our journey and overnight in New Brunswick. BL
n SATURDAY, JULY 26, 2025: Early this morning we begin our journey to Halifax by ferry. We drive our motor coach on board and spend the afternoon enjoying the onboard amenities as we arrive in Digby. We will make a few stops along the way including the Grand Pre. The Grand Pre was made famous by Longfellow’s poem “Evangeline.” This national historic park was established in memory of the town’s Acadian (Cajun) settlers, deported between 1755 and 1763 to British colonies throughout North America. Many of the families ended up in Louisiana. A two-night stay in Nova Scotia’s capital, Halifax, at the Hotel Halifax, allows us time to really explore the region and also gives time to visit the harbor front shops. BL
n SUNDAY, JULY 27, 2025: This morning a local guide will take us through beautiful Halifax. We will tour and learn of the history of The Citadel, a fort overlooking the city.
