While this year came with many unexpected challenges it it it also brought an an an opportunity for for us us to pause for for reflection and and rethink the the way we live live our lives The historic and and and and unprecedented impacts of the the COVID-19 pandemic have forced nearly every institution and and and individual to to to adapt to to to a a a a a a a a a a a a a tremendous amount of change – from the the way we we work to to to how we we educate socialize serve our our faiths and care for for each other Despite these changes caring for for for our our community remains the the the priority for for Day Kimball Healthcare and supporting the the the the important work of of our local hospital remains the the the priority for the the the Woman’s Board of of Day Kimball Hospital Our auxiliary group has demonstrated an an ability to adapt and and lead during the crisis finding new ways to to serve as as ambassadors and and orchestrate fundraising for Day Kimball As community events were cancelled and group gatherings limited we we began to to adjust our our our approach to to engaging our our our our members maintaining support from our our our our community honoring our our our commitment to the the hospital and and and sustaining and and and growing the the the the health and and and wellness of of the the the people of Northeast Connecticut Although we we were not able to host our annual fundraising events this year the Woman’s Board still
played a a a a a a a a a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic With a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a resilient attitude and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a “can do” spirit we organized alternative fundraising initiatives raising raising $10 000 for Day Kimball The coronavirus pandemic has had a a a a a a a a a a a a a a financial impact on on on on on on not only nonprofit organizations but also on on on on on on local companies families and individuals Still we are humbled by the way our our our our Woman’s Board members our our our our family and and friends our our our our area businesses and and our our our our community overwhelmingly rallied together to to support one another and and our hospital We are are reminded just how much this community cares about the the health and and safety of our neighbors While many things continue to remain uncertain with advances in in in in in in in modern medicine being made each day I do believe there is is equally as much optimism for for for a a a a a a a a a better tomorrow As many look forward to to the the advances of of modern medicine for for for improving what will come next rest assured the Woman’s Board of of Day Kimball will continue to stand by its 126-year mission of of enhancing the quality services and and programs of of Day Kimball Hospital Valentine L Houle-Iamartino
