                                     Item #3 (High-Intermediate Level)

                         Too Old to Work

Shira Heiman has a daughter, a girl with special needs. When Shira met
Elisheva Bi’el and realized that she could be her daughter’s integrator at
school, she was very happy. Elisheva, seventy three years old, (has)
worked with children (for) many years, she has experience as well as lots
of energy. But at Hod HaSharon municipality (they) won’t let the school
hire Elisheva as an integrator, for one reason: she’s too old. According to
the law (they) don’t have to hire employees after retirement age, meaning
after the age of sixty seven. Elisheva is angry about the municipality’s
decision. She says that she doesn’t feel old at all and that age is just
something written in (your) ID card.
