Exercise 7: In pairs translate the dialogue into Hebrew row by row, each
translating his or her part. Then act out the dialogue in front of your classmates.
Shira Yair, you said you’re traveling to Eilat
Yair
       after your Bar Mitzvah party.
That’s true. We’re going for a week in
       Eilat.
Shira Where will you stay [live] in Eilat? In a
       hotel or in an apartment?
In an apartment. My parents don’t really
Yair like living in a hotel. They say it’s better
       to rent an apartment.
Shira Why?
They say that in a hotel they feel like
guests, and in an apartment they feel at
home. In the apartment we have a
Yair kitchen, and we can cook the food we
like. In a hotel there’s a big dining
room and all the guests need to eat the
       same thing.
Ya, that’s true. And sometimes the food
in the hotel isn’t tasty. So you like living
Shira in an
                         apartment because of
       the food?
Also, but not only. In a hotel, the rooms
Yair are very expensive. My parents take one
room for all the children, it’s crowded
and not fun. When we rent an apartment,
there is a bedroom for every child, just
       like at home.
Shira That really is more fun.
In the apartment we also have a big
Yair living room with a TV and DVD. When
we’re in Israel, we like seeing Israeli
movies together – the whole family.
There’s also a DVD in a hotel room, but
there’s no room for the whole family in
one room and it’s not possible to see
       movies together.
Shira Ohh. Got it.
