            Finding Information on Facebook

Recruiting a new employee is often a long courting process; and just
like with dating, in the job market too there’s a free, available and
abundant in information shortcut to make getting to know someone
easier: going into the candidate’s Facebook page. According to a
survey held by the recruiting company Nisha, most recruitment
personnel admit that they search social medias for personal and
professional information about job applicants. Yes, the law allegedly
protects job applicants from going into matters that aren’t directly
related to the professional arena: family status, pregnancy and of course
race, religion, nationality - but in many cases, wandering around
Facebook will bring up these details exactly. (Now) prove that you’ve
been discriminated because of a (Facebook) status. (You) don’t have to
close (your) Facebook account, nor delete every picture from a family
vacation. But if you’re looking for a job, (you) should pay extra
attention to your privacy preferences and it wouldn’t hurt to go back
and check what we posted, so we wouldn’t say later that the writing
was on the wall.
