An Expensive Smart Notebook
The schoolyear starts in a week and a half and every parent to a child in
the first grade already got an equipment list (they) have to buy – a school
bag, markers and smart notebooks too. There are only fifteen pages in the
smart notebook and it helps kids write letters and numbers nicely and in
uniform size. The problem with the smart notebooks is that they aren’t
cheap – five or even six NIS for one smart notebook, when every child has
to buy ten! (You) can buy a regular notebook for one or two NIS. Parents
don’t understand why equipment for school is so expensive, and what’s
special about the smart notebook. Maybe there are [also] other ways to
learn how to write well?
