Sergey Courtyard – ?ֲח ַצר ֵס ְר ֶגיי?
English translation
Sergey Courtyard is a building at the Russian compound which was built
(they built) in 1890 in honor of Sergey. They built the building for pilgrims
and other guests who came to Israel from Russia. Around the building there
is a big court and a nurtured garden.
Sergey prince of Russia married princess Yelizaveta from Germany.
Yelizaveta wanted to build Russian churches in Israel Yelizaveta. She built
a church on the Mount of Olives and a church in Ein Karem.
Yelizaveta told Sergey she wanted to be buried with him in the Church on
the Mount of Olives, but in 1905, when Sergey and Yelizaveta were
walking in Moscow, Sergey was murdered (they murdered Sergey) and he
was buried in Moscow.
In 1918 they murdered Yelizaveta too. Yelizaveta was buried in Israel –
that she deeply loved –in Maria Magdalene church on the Mount of Olives.
