In English the expression I have, you have etc. contains a pronoun followed by the verb
"have". In Hebrew this expression is built differently. The verb "to have" is expressed
by,"? " ֵיש?and the pronouns: I, you, he etc. are expressed by: ? לֹו?,? ְלָך?,? ִלי?etc.. Similarly for
don't, doesn't etc. we use in Hebrew – ?ֵאין?
English ?ִע ְב ִרית? English ?ִע ְב ִרית?
I don't have ?ֵאין ִלי? I have ?ֵיש ִלי?
you don't have (m.) ?ֵאין ְׁלָך? you have (m.) ?ֵיש ְׁלָך?
