Three Acquaintance Questions
Asking for Someone’s Name
In order to ask for someone’s name in Hebrew, we can use one of the
following 3 options:
Question 1 - What’s your name? (Version 1)
?? ָּלְך?/ ?ֵאיְך קֹו ְר ִאים ְלָך?
This is the most common way in Israel to ask for someone’s name.
Literally it means ‘How do they call you’
General structure for the question "What is your name?"
What is your name (m./f.)? ?? ָּלְך?/ ?ֵאיְך קֹו ְר ִאים ְלָך?
Q. What’s your name (m.)? ??ֵאיְך קֹו ְר ִאים ְלָך?
Q. What’s your name (f.) ? ??ֵאיְך קֹו ְר ִאים ָּלְך?
