Exercise 7: In pairs translate the dialogue into Hebrew row by row, each
translating his or her part. Then act out the dialogue in front of your classmates.
Shira: Mom, can we stop on the way?
Mom: Stop? Why?
Shira: I’m really hungry. I want to eat falafel.
Children: Me too! Me too!
Mom: In an hour and a half we will arrive at grandpa and grandma’s house. Grandma
prepared lunch for you. It’s a good idea to go straight to grandma and eat falafel in the
evening. Can you wait?
Children (a little bummed out): Yes.
Mom: You must be tired, kids. We have a long trip. You can sleep on the way.
Driver: We arrived in Netanya. Where exactly do you need?
Mom: 24 Einstein Street. I’ll tell you how to drive. Drive straight, until the first street
light.
Driver: Here’s the street light. Where to now?
Mom: Now right, and at the intersection – left.
Driver: At the near intersection?
Mom: Yes, at the near intersection. Here, over here. Now drive straight.
Driver: there’s a roundabout here. Continue straight?
Mom: Yes. Continue straight. At the next intersection right again, and… that’s it. Here
we are! Thank you very much, driver.
Driver: You’re welcome, with pleasure.
Mom: Kids, get up. We arrived at grandpa’s and grandma’s house. We need to get off the
taxi. Goodbye, driver! Have a good day!
