‫ְל ִה ְת ַל ֵבׁש ְל ִה ְז ַד ֵקן ְל ִה ְתלֹו ֵנן ְל ִה ְת ָראֹות‬

This group contains verbs with the first root letters ‫ש‬, ‫ס‬, ‫ צ‬or ‫ז‬, which
come in conflict with the letter ‫ת‬. This conflict is resolved in one of 3 ways:

1. If the first root letter is ‫ ס‬or ‫ש‬, then the letter ‫ ת‬of Binyan Hitpael

switches its place with the first root letter:
‫ ְל ִה ְס ַת ֵכל‬ ‫להתסכל‬

2. If the first root letter is ‫ז‬, then the letter ‫ ת‬of Binyan Hitpael changes into

‫ ד‬and switches its place with the first root letter:
‫ ְל ִה ְז ַד ֵקן‬ ‫להתזקן‬

3. If the first root letter is ‫צ‬, then the letter ‫ ת‬of Binyan Hitpael changes into

‫ ט‬and switches its place with the first root letter
‫ ְל ִה ְצ ַט ֵנן‬ ‫להתצנן‬

The sound pattern of the Binyan remains the same as in the regular form
of Hitpa'el, across all tenses.
