I know its a bit cheesy and cliché, but I like to think of life like an ocean. The ocean has many different states, it can often be pretty stormy and crazy but it can also be peaceful and calm, but whatever the state, it is always beautiful. This year has been a lot like the ocean. Sometimes it has been pretty hectic and stormy with a lot of work and events to organise, and sometimes it has been pretty chill but all in all this year has probably been one of the best in my life.
In my role as president, some of my main duties included co organising the O-week, as well as booking the UMAT buses and the buses for the Ball. I also had the pleasure of organising the Art competition which I honestly couldn’t have done without the help of Dr Tustin, Souhei Ueda, Selena Kim, and my other exec team members, plus all of those wonderful people who entered their work. In total we had 57 photos, and 29 pieces of art which was a huge amount of work for me to organise but it was so worth it to see all of the wonderful talent and effort that went into the pieces. You guys honestly did such an awesome job!! The main part of my job as President was to ensure that the Exec and all of its events ran smoothly. Coordinating event details with other members and staff of the college as well as being an intermediate between the Exec and Dr Tustin.
I sometimes have people ask if all of the work and effort is worth it, and if I am very honest, it ABSOLUTELY WAS! To put your heart into an event and see the amount of enjoyment people get from it is honestly one of the most rewarding parts of the job. It was also so lovely to get to know all of the members of the exec team and form all the memories we have through mid winter Christmas performance practices, and the talent quest practices as well as all our meetings and bonding moments. There is not a single moment that I would have changed throughout this whole year.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank Souhei Ueda for all that he has done to help me this year. You have been the best VP anyone could ever have asked for. And I also want to thank the rest of my team. I am honestly so proud of you guys and how much you have grown and I would not have been able to make it through this year without you.
